This is achieved through destination marketing campaigns, advertising and public relations, marketing and sales promotions and participation in international travel trade shows. |

ACTING TAT GOVERNOR APPOINTED 2010 ![]() Mr Suraphon Svetasreni Current Position: Deputy Governor for Marketing Communication and Acting Deputy Governor for Policy and Planning
H.E. Chumpol Silapa-archa Minister of Tourism and Sports has appointed Ms Pensuda Priaram, Deputy Governor for Administration, as Acting Governor. She takes over from Governor Phornsiri Manohan, who retired in March 2009 after a distinguished 39-year career at TAT. Ms Pensuda Priaram has been Acting Governor since 30 March 2009, and continues to serve concurrently as Deputy Governor for Administration. The Board of Directors also confirmed that the selection process for the new TAT Governor is already under way.

Tourism Development and the Development of Service Standards
for Tourism Product and Services
Duties and responsibilities related to the support and development of the tourism industry
as well as administrative issues have been transferred to the Ministry of Tourism
and Sport’s Office of Tourism Development.
These include:
- Tourist Business and Guide Registration/Certification
This covers the issue of permits, extension of permits,
suspension of permits andtermination of permits,
certification of duplicate copies of any other documents related to the tourism
business operator or guide.
- Setting standards for tourist attractions/sites, tourism products and services
Promoting awareness of and encouraging tourism business operators
and guides to adopt professional standards,
methodology and practices in accordance with the Tourism Business and Tour Guides
Act and other Ministerial Decrees issued thereof
- Responsibility for the inspection and control of tourism business operators,
places of business and guides to ensure compliance with the Tourism Business
and Tour Guides Act
- The conduct of legal proceedings in cases of misconduct or infringement of the law

or tour guides or report unethical tourism practices,
